Is this safe to use on my boat!?

This is a common question we get. A fire pit on a boat is a new concept to most people. Below is a ton of information on how we've ensured these are safe for boat usage!

First, the original pontoon boat fire pit concept was created about 10 years ago. There are hundreds of units in the field with many many years of usage. The design and concept has been proven to be safe. We have recently modernized the look and feel of the concept but kept the guts of the design the same.

All the propane components are CSA/UL certified to ensure they have been 3rd party tested for safety. Anything that the flame will be in contact with will be metal (and thus isn't a fire hazard). All of the plastic components (which are lower on the unit and don't even get warm during operation) are UL listed fire retardant materials just for over the top peace of mind.

We test all our fire pits to ANSI standard Z21.97-2017 which covers Outdoor Gas Appliances to ensure safety.

Propane BBQ grills have been used on boats for decades. Our fire pit uses basically the same components but arranged differently. We think the fire pit is far safer as it's not meant for cooking greasy burgers on.

Lastly, since a boat fire pit is a newer concept, we are working with the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) to write a new official standard for fire pits on boats.

Safety is our number once concern and for the many reasons above we can safely say that we have 100% confidence in our products safety. Ben, our owner, has personally used his fire pit since 2016!
