Is this safe to use on my boat!?
This is a common question we get. A fire pit on a boat is a new concept to most people. Below is a ton of information on how we've ensured these are safe for boat usage!
First, marine propane grills have been used on boats for 75+ years. Our fire pit uses basically the same concept but instead of heating your hot dogs and hamburgers the Floating Flame is heating you. We think the fire pit is far safer as there is no chance of out of control grease fires like on a grill.
The original pontoon boat fire pit concept was created about 10 years ago. There are hundreds of units in the field with many many years of usage. The design and concept has been proven to be safe. We have recently modernized the look and feel of the concept but kept the guts of the design the same.
The propane components are CSA/UL to ensure they have been 3rd party reviewed for safety. Anything that the flame will be in contact with will be metal (and thus isn't a fire hazard). All of the plastic components (which are lower on the unit and don't even get warm during operation) are fire retardant materials just for over the top peace of mind.
We designed everything to ANSI standard Z21.97-2017 which covers Outdoor Gas Appliances for additional safety.
Safety is our number once concern and for the many reasons above we can safely say that we have 100% confidence in our products safety. Ben, our owner, has personally used his fire pit since 2016!
Don't take our word for it... watch Ben talk about the safety of Flame in the video below!
